Leaps and bounds

It may be a bit too early to say this but it seems that Emma is growing up so quickly. I promised myself that I would write everything down, but instead, I am enjoying this time with her. In the past few weeks she has become more vocal. She is really finding her voice, not so much in babbling, but just making noise in general... laughs, giggles, whines, sighs... She has also found her hands which are usually in her mouth, one or two fingers at a time. In the past few days she has started to push her stomach out to get out of a car seat or bouncy seat she doesn't want to be in. It may not seem like a big deal, but to me, it's surreal. She is making the decision that she does not want to be where she is placed, she wants to be elsewhere and she will do whatever is necessary to change her situation. Like this evening, when Conor and I were giving her a bath and she kept straightening her legs and her body in her little plastic tub. It made for a difficult bath time but we couldn't stop laughing. All these little things add up to make her the little person she is becoming. I know it's early, and there are so many more milestones to come, but it's so bittersweet. The one remark I have gotten over and over again about motherhood is "enjoy every minute, it goes by in a flash". Emma will be 4 months this Saturday and I am already feeling that sentiment. Here are some pictures from the last two weeks... enjoy!

Having lunch at Texadelphia with daddy. Emma loves picking Conor up from the office for lunch and gettin' some daddy time...

Being silly on a Saturday morning. One of my absolute favorite things is when we wake up on the weekends, I feed Emma, then after a short nap... its time to play!!!!

Waking up from a nap. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all woke up in such a good mood? I think it would, one smile at a time.

Dressed and ready for the day. Always smiling!

Will daddy ever stop kissing on me????? Um... I don't think so.

Tummy time. Still our least favorite activity...

Even though we are no where near eating solids right now, I have started to put her in her high chair so she can watch me while I cook. Since our kitchen is separate from our living area, it makes it alot easier for me to have her near me. I just wheel her into the kitchen and she hangs out. The seat leans back so it gets super comfy and she ends up falling asleep...

Emma in her exersaucer. So much going on! We have buttons to push on this side, but there is so much to see on the other side!!! Oh little girl, the first of many many decisions...

This past weekend one of my oldest and closest friends came to Houston and met Emma for the first time. Vanessa and Emma had a blast...

Nibbling on Vanessa's arm...

My cousin, Anna, and Emma enjoying some Mexican food. Well, we enjoyed the Mexican food, Emma just watched.

Last weekend my mom and I went shopping and took the little angel with us. We ended up at Janie and Jack, one of my favorite children's clothing stores. We also ended up trying every hat on her, this one was my favorite, closely followed by a brown beret with a pink bow. She looks so serious, doesn't she?

In the outfit my dad got her. Such a little hippie baby. Love it.

Just one of her many, many naps. Love the chubs...

My little swimmer

This weekend was the third time that Emma went swimming. And you know what? She loves it. She is totally at ease in the water, we drag her feet around and around in the water, bounce up and down, and have the best time. And although she has a very serious look on her face most of the time, I know she is loving it. I attribute the serious look to trying to understand the world around her more than anything. It might sound silly, but that's just how I see it. She looks at the water, the trees, the birds, the grass... absorbing it all. Conor and I started swimming at a very young age, so we're so excited to get her started at such a young age a well. Sorry there aren't any pictures of her in the water, I was too busy swimming along with her to take any. But here are some pictures of her right before we got in the pool...

After swimming, ready to eat...

Emma's Weekend Update

Friday night we celebrated my mom's birthday with the family. We had a wonderful time. We had some Mexican food and margaritas, then back to our place for some tasty fruit tart and tea. Happy birthday, mom! We love you!

Make a wish!!!! Emma is mesmerized by the candle...

I love my iPhone. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I do. When Emma was born, I took a picture with it every morning and sent it to Conor when he was out of town. I also sent the pictures to family and friends as a good morning, I mean, who wouldn't want to wake up to this face? Honestly? I took so many iPhone pictures (I'm at 427 to be exact) that I was thinking about making an iPhone picture album. While it doesn't take very high quality pictures, it's perfect for those quick shots when you need a camera close by. Here are some random iPhone pics from this weekend...

This weekend was also the first time that Emma went swimming. We went to Conor's parents' pool and she loved it. There was no crying at all, it was actually pretty peaceful. She got used to the water very quickly and just spent most of the time looking around at all there was to see... trees, birds, the ripples in the water. I just cannot get over how pensive she looks sometimes. She is such a sponge, I cannot imagine how much information that little brain is absorbing these days.
